This adapter communicates over their cellular network, and has one Ethernet port.So, if your current setup is: cable-modem --> Ethernet cable --> your own router --> your own devicesthen when there is no Internet via the cable-modem, move the Ethernet cable to connect to this alternate device.It probably will be a much-lower speed than provided via the cable-modem, but if you are "depending" on Internet access, it should work.Or, find an old modem (external or internal), and find an ISP still offering "dial-up", and connect through the modem, for your "essential" access.I would contact Shaw support, by phone or chat and get them to check your modem to make sure it isn’t an issue  with your modem or cable in your house.

I have tried contacting the support over phone and chat and they always wash their hands saying there's nothing wrong on their end. We've been having trouble with Shaw for over a year. I exchanged the old Hitron I was using for another on Saturday (at the request of Tech support), I still get disconnections. Shaw television stations in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver will be shut down this summer, affecting about 70 jobs, as the company redirects funds instead to Global News. Internet service providers AT&T, Comcast, Cox, Verizon and many more have pledged to not cut off service from customers who can’t pay their bills because of the COVID-19 outbreak. if so do test run here:and they are saying no issue on int 150 with old modem(hittron).I've been having many disconnects since the free 150 to 300 upgrade from Shaw. I'm new to Calgary signed up with shaw for the 300 packag... I find this as a tempoary fix. Internet constantly disconnecting all day everyday. I am experiencing up to 5-10 disconnects an hour.
