No it doesnt but the Veteran's Preference Laws are in place to recognize veterans for their service and also to give them a chance to compete equitably for the positions. If an 1811 position hired people over 37, would you be able to lateral over to another 1811 agency that doesn't do that? only).Agencies are reminded that they are still required to apply suitability, occupational qualification standards, and medical qualification determinations when waiving the maximum entry-age requirements for preference eligible veterans. 3307.
I am eligible to retire but have no plans or desire to.
OPM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS FOR 1811 SERIES ... you must be less than 37 years of age).

You guys can believe what you want but I have a COE to back up what I am Saying. Cool Blue
The maximum entry age limit was established under the age discrimination prohibitions contained in Section 15 of the Age Discrimination and Employment Act.
May an agency send such an employee through basic CITP training at FLETC?
I am a 42 year old retired military.
Here is my two cents gents.
First the age limit is not specific to the 1811 job series, it's based on whether the job is "covered" by the special LE/firefighter/ATC retirement. SO you fellas kick it around some more speculating but I am living proof that the waiver exist.

Please note that if you get hired under a age waiver, you will not be able to go to other federal LE 6c jobs if they require you to be 37. I knew a guy who got hired by the patrol under a waiver with the hope he could transfer to the agency he really wanted.
Why would someone who wasn't serving in the military and had nothing stopping them wait until the age of 37 to apply to a FLE position.
Maybe they will appeal maybe they won't.
I will be forced to retire at age 57.
Why would a not vet rate a waiver when they could have applied at any time
I don't think they'd make you stay longer - I think they'd make those who came on earlier and who want to retire stay
On July 2, 2008, the Merit Systems Protection Board (Board) issued a final decision in Robert P. Isabella v. Department of State and Office of Personnel Management, 2008 M.S.P.B. Change in Maximum Entry-age Requirements for Veterans’ Preference Eligibles Position duties are similar to the Special Agent 1811 job series but do not accord the entire range of federal law enforcement authorities or the law enforcement availability pay and enhanced retirement benefits found in the 1811 job series.

§ 3307.
Why would someone who wasn't serving in the military and had nothing stopping them wait until the age of 37 to apply to a FLE position. Is 18 11 other states have an age cut off limit of 17. I think we are talking about non veteran people over 37 since we know that there has been a waiver for them.
Maybe someone has been in Law Enforcement for 14 years and wants to make a change.
If the agency decides age is not essential to the position, then it must waive the maximum entry-age requirement for veterans’ preference eligible applicants. There is a waiver to the 37 year old age limit but it is only for Preference Eligible Military veterans.
146, that affects preference eligibles who apply for federal positions having a maximum entry-age restriction.
As far as the "waiver" for preference eligible vets, it's likely that this is far from a done deal:
The Merit System Protection Board ruled that the age limit was a violation of Veterans preference rules since being 37 was not a requirement to do the job but to be able to retire by 57 hence it is age discrimination.
is 18 11 other states have an age cut off limit of 17 and New York and North.

Does it really matter why?
The Board decided that the agency’s failure to waive the maximum entry-age requirements for Mr. Isabella, a preference eligible veteran, violated his rights under the Veteran Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) because there was no demonstration that a maximum entry-age was essential to the performance of the position.Based on the Board’s decision in Isabella, qualified preference eligibles may now apply and be considered for vacancies regardless of whether they meet the maximum age requirements identified at 5 U.S.C.
