This course will include a didactic session as well as a hands-on practical lab.

She was the 2011 recipient of the ATA’s Van Meter Award for outstanding contributions to research on the thyroid gland. Since the guidelines for the management of these disorders by the American Thyroid Association (ATA) were first published in 2011, significant clinical and scientific advances have occurred in the field. The didactic session will review the physics principles of ultrasound and outline in a detailed fashion scanning techniques and ultrasonographic appearance of normal head and neck anatomy. Dr. Elizabeth N. Pearce received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Harvard and a masters’ degree in epidemiology from the Boston University School of Public Health. This course is intended for participants with a diverse background in head and neck ultrasound ranging from a beginner to those with a moderate amount of clinical or educational exposure.
