Our main character is John (Krasinski) a stagnated graphic novelist who is called back home after his mother (Martindale) is found to have a brain tumor. As a new director, I will give John thumbs up for being in two jobs. Don’t worry, it won’t take long. In John Krasinski's second directorial effort The Hollars, heart is the base of this small yet thoughtful indie. John Krasinski, longtime costar of "The Office," directed this modestly budgeted family drama; the writer is James C. Several actors in the movie have played characters with the similar first names in movies/series. It's a shame that "The Hollars" didn't garner some of the Oscar nominations that went to bigger-budget, but less deserving, films in 2016.

I fell in love with Jim Strouse's script and the honesty with which he looked at this family at this particular moment in time. After college, Will is having problems getting a good, lasting job, as are his roomies, his girlfriend and his just fired dad. Well casted, written, directed, and acted. The nurse was funny. Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer I took a chance and bought it because of the cast: Margo Martindale (love her! | Rating: 1.5/4 ), Richard Jenkins (can't go wrong with these two in the cast) and John Krasinski. He leaves behind his pregnant girlfriend (Kendrick) to find that his father's (Jenkins) business is close to bankruptcy, his brother (Copley) has lost his way with his ex-wife (Dyke) and kids, and John's ex-girlfriend (Winstead) wants him, while her husband (Day) hates his guts. Wish there were more like this. Inspired by the kids, he finds an opportunity to regain success by staging an altogether new production. ( I'd marry you anyway!). Great acting. Best scene ever, "Closer To Fine" in a Hospital! Binge Central
