I don't know if anything of this was posted yet. Almost certainly beyond the wall. Coldhands seems to be a brother of the Night's Watch: he wears black and calls Samwell Tarly "brother." Afterwards he led Bran and Meera close to the Wall but stayed behind because he could not pass through it due to his undead status. In aGoT Benjen comes down from the Wall to Winterfell when Robert arrives and sits at the dais, so I'm fairly certain there are no hard feelings there.
