San Elijo State Beach Campground is a popular beach camping destination along the San Diego County coast, only a few miles north of San Diego. San Elijo State Beach extends along Coast Highway 101, 3/4 mile north from San Elijo Lagoon's entrance channel, near the community of Cardiff-by-the-Sea. San Elijo State Beach. South end sites 1 through 43 and sites 47, 49, 51, 54 and 56 are are also on the ocean side of the park.

San Elijo State Beach is a lovely place to visit if you're in the mood for some sun, sand, and surf. Parking lots in Cardiff (San Elijo) controlled by state parks will be closed at: Seaside Beach, Cardiff Reef and the North day-use parking located at the north end of the Cardiff Campgrounds. The entrance to the campground is separated by a fence; the only way to get around is to walk along the paved pedestrian path around the fence, about 100 yards away.This first aid equipped (AED available) camp office offers information on the area and has a shower token dispenser on the wall outside.

At low tide it’s absolutely amazing. San Elijo Beach State Beach campsites 145 through 171 all are on the ocean view and in the north section of the park. Among them are 130 general campsites, six handicap accessible sites, 28 RV sites, and a few tent sites.
