L'Air du Desert Marocain (2005) is the second perfume from one-man-house Tauer, composed like all of them are, by Andy Tauer himself. On me, the scent smells waxy/aldehydic, balsamic with tons of ambergris backbone.

It just wore better on my skin than ACDD, but that's not to say that this isn't very nice, because it is.I like Au Coeur du Desert. From then on it's all leathery wood and incense with no really noticeable change as it dries down - which takes a long, long time.

Subtle spices and wood tones. Message sent: I admire the desert / desert life / desert travel and I know a secret about it that enables me to wear this, but I have taken one shot only not extreme. Oddly enough I get a whiff of something reminding me of pipe tobacco. I'd categorise it as Balsamic Chypre. Nevertheless I am in love.I put a sample of this on one wrist and spray from my bottle of LADDM on the other arm to compare. The fragrance ends in amber woods whereas L' Air du Desert ends in sweeter amber/cedar. The opening has a note that is almost identical to Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford.

Regardless, L'Air du Desert Marocain is a prime example of "back to the old ways" perfume when only Lords and Ladies could afford bespoke commissioned fragrances while everyone else subsisted on the occasional bath water, but brought into modern times and batch-produced for public purchase. Has some green notes at the beginning, perhaps the patchouly is displaying mint-like qualities.

Cinnamon came on within the first 30 minutes or so, and the figgy smell I picked up from LADDM came on within about an hour or so. From what I notice, the vanilla and amber were reduced or taken out and replaced with balsams in Au Coeur du Desért. It is an oiled leather smell and I was amazed at how much it reminded me of TL. Well-composed.Citrus, patchouli bitterness that goes towards cypress, powder and ambergris. It's still in evidence the next morning post-shower, long after LADDM has faded. A small sharp pinching of what I think is the jasmine sneaks in here as well.

Sugary, resinous patchouli and ambergris. I prefer LDDM, especially just to smell, but I would probably wearing this instead.
