There wasn't anything else at the top (we thought it might have taken us to the castle, but it only gave us a good view of it). The views over the town are fantastic.This village is like something from a fairytale book. I had never been on one before, I found it fairly easy to get on & off. We had a Luxembourg card which meant we could go up and down and then back up on the chairlift. Price for one way is not a lot less than the up/down price, but walking back down is steep and a fair way back to the entrance.
Which is what you would have to do if you and parked your car in the parking near to the entrance.Great chairlift with amazing views but don't do it for castle. Great experience, although not for the faint hearted, we took our 3 children on aged 7, 4 and 1. Highly recommended. The walk to the castle from top of chairlift is very steep and rocky and I wouldn't want to walk back up it. Vianden lies on the Our river, near the border between Luxembourg and Germany.

Lovely views of the River Our just after you set off, and then higher up there are beautiful views of Vianden and also great views of the castle. This really was the stand out moment of our visit to Vianden. At the top is a restaurant and from this level you can look down on the castle.

The going down bit of the chair lift if the best so you probably wouldn't want to miss that. The prices are very reasonable. Come to see the castle and linger a while longer, enjoying a meal along the river bank and exploring other pleasant attractions.
