It’s quite a way down there (and harder to get back up if you have mobility issues). In the historical district of Luxembourg city, there are amazing remains of the Fortress of Luxembourg, which was built back in 963, and survived numerous attacks, until it was finally demolished in 1867. What a beautiful place! Great post.It really was a hidden gem! If you prefer to spend your 24 hours outside of the city, the Moselle river, which forms part of the eastern border with Germany, is about 30 minutes away from the city and boat trips on the river offer a relaxing way to see the region. Spend your evening in the Philharmonie Luxembourg, a beautifully designed, eye-shaped concert hall that hosts orchestral performances throughout the year. Luxembourg City is a very small city, so it’s easy to get around and to see a lot in a short space of time.Luxembourg City  is a city that is blessed with a good economy. This impressive, vast building is still the home of Luxembourg’s dukes and duchesses, but in peak season you can take tours around its storied halls. Particularly worth seeking out is Crémant, Luxembourg’s slightly lighter version of Champagne.Luxembourg packs a lot into a small space. We have arrived in the teeny European country of Luxembourg, for a teeny tiny stop over on our route to Belgium.We arrived to the hostel and needed a little time to rest our brains from the hours of travel before heading out to explore our surrounds. Here we purchased some carrots and broccoli for the bus trip to Belgium, and continued on in search of the worlds best chocolate!After spending weeks on the road, and traveling in a different way than ever before, I learned a lot about my travel style; what I liked and what I will do differently in the future.

There’s not many countries which you can cover in 24 hours. 24 hours in Luxembourg Luxembourg is as diverse as it is vibrant. You will have to return, if only for the chocolate! 9am – Coffee and breakfast. We had a wonderful evening!Our bus to Brussels was departing at 1:00pm, so we woke up early to seize as much of the morning as possible! Am surprised to hear that it has great chocolate. I highly recommend one called “City Promenade”, which clearly identifies the names and locations of all the special places to visit. The Grand Ducal palace and Notre Dame cathedral are a short walk away but the real pleasure of the old town are the views on offer at the Bock promontory, the Pont Adolphe, the Chemin de la Corniche and other points where the plateau suddenly ends.At the bottom of the ravine to the east side of the old city, the Grund district gazes up the dramatic escarpments along the banks of the Alzette river.
